Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim

Who loves the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker? I know I do, and I also have reason to believe the UK does too. But do you love it enough to make a clone and market it to the world? Jonathon and Sam of Ascension Games do, and so they've launched a Kickstarter campaign for Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim.

What is Cornerstone? Besides a complete knock-off of a Nintendo classic, The Song of Tyrim takes a lot of cues from From Software's Dark Souls. The team wants to emphasize that this game has an entirely open world and many obstacles can be overcome in any way the player can imagine. The whole game is physics based, which I guess means everything is affected by gravity and can be used as a weapon. Pretty cool, huh? The game will also feature what you would expect, like exploration and regular-old sword based combat, but also crafting, which is a nice touch!

The Kickstarter is a little over half finished, and they've received a little more than half of the funds requested, so while this isn't a super huge success story like Mighty No. 9 was, they might be able to do it. And I'm kind of excited to see what the finished game might be like. So if you've got a couple bucks, and this sounds like a game for you, maybe you should shoot'em some?

I'm reminded of A Hat In Time.

A Hat in Time is less of a blatant ripoff, though. I should actually write a short article on that, too...
